Webinar // APCs and other methods of Open Access publishing
If you have decided to publish in open access, you have most likely already heard of APCs or "Article Processing Charges": some publishers allow open access distribution of scientific publications in exchange for publication fees.
This funding model is extremely costly and difficult to sustain in the long term. However, there are alternatives that are less well known to researchers for publishing in open access without having to pay publication fees.
The webinar aims to explain how APCs work and to present these alternative solutions.
As part of UM's Open Science policy, UM's research support team is launchinga series of webinarsfor the scientific community.
Theseshortworkshops(20 to 40 minutes of presentation followed by discussion) will alternate between theoretical input and practical demonstrations on open science, scientific publications, and research data.
