Webinar // APC and other Open Access publishing methods

  • Type of event: Webinar
  • Dates : December 2, 2025
  • Timetable: 11:00-12:00
  • Location: Online

If you've ever wanted to publish in open access, you've probably already heard of APCs or "Articles Processing Charges": some publishers allow scientific publications to be distributed in open access, in exchange for a publication fee.
This financing model is extremely costly and difficult to sustain over the long term. There are, however, alternatives less well known to researchers for publishing in open access without having to pay publication fees.
The aim of the webinar is to explain how APC works and to present these alternative solutions.

As part of UM's Open Science policy, the UM Research Support Team is launching a series of webinars for the scientific community.

With a short format (20 to 40 min presentation, followed by time for discussion), these workshops will alternate between theoretical contributions and practical demonstrations on Open Science, scientific publications and research data.
