UM’s Open Science Policy

In late 2019, the University of Montpellier aligned itself with national policy and implemented its plan for reproducible science. Led by the university’s Vice President for Open Science and Research Data, this plan was made possible through collaboration among numerous departments and cross-functional units, including: the Joint Documentation Service (SCD), the Montpellier Scientific Data Institute (ISDM), the Directorate of Innovation and Partnerships (DIPA), the Directorate of Research and Doctoral Studies (DRED), the Directorate of IT and Digital Services (DSIN), the archivist, and the Data Protection Officer (DPO).

In practice, this is a comprehensive initiative aimed at establishing the use of HAL and promoting responsible research data management. The initiative includes various training opportunities, such as a university degree in Scientific Data Management and a wide range of webinars on key Open Science topics: HAL, Open Data, Open Access, digital identity, and electronic lab notebooks.

Support teams, specialized services, and other specific tools are being deployed to provide the best possible support for managing data, source code, and software, as well as for managing digital identities and scientific publications.

To best support national and international commitments to Open Science, the University of Montpellier is actively involved in large-scale initiatives.
