Digital Identity

Given the proliferation of scientific literature, managing one's digital identity is a strategic challenge for every researcher. 

Effectively managing your digital identity allows you to increase your visibility among your peers and recruiters, showcase your research activities, and ensure that you are properly recognized as the author of all your work.

One way to build a digital identity is to adopt persistent researcher identifiers. Two of these are worth noting: IdHAL and ORCID. 

IdHAL is the unique identifier provided by HAL. It allows an authenticated user to group all of their publications together, regardless of the different ways their name may have been entered (e.g., Cerise Courbet, C. Courbet, etc.), and to select one as the default.  

IDHAL enables the creation of the HAL CV. Easy to set up and well-indexed by search engines, it will be automatically updated with any new publications reported on HAL.

ORCID, which stands for Open Researcher and Contributor IDentifier, is an international system that allows researchers to create a unique and permanent digital identifier (ORCID ID) to uniquely identify them. The ORCID profile has thus become an essential part of a researcher’s digital identity and accompanies them throughout their career.
